UK donates 200,000 new crown respirators to Dominica
The British government, along with Canada, the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization, donation of 200,000 medical masks and N95 respirators to the government of Dominica will be held on the 16th. Stephen Sauve, director of development for the Caribbean, Dr McIntyre, Dominica's health minister, Ms Wake, the Doh's permanent secretary, and representatives of Paho and the Canadian government were present at the handover. At the handover ceremony, Caribbean Development Director Sauve spoke highly of the government's achievements in preventing and controlling the outbreak of NCP. It said the UK government had pledged more than # 1bn to the international community to address the health, humanitarian and economic impact of the new coronavirus outbreak and to support global efforts to find a vaccine. Sauve said the British government would provide about # 68m in development aid to Dominica, this includes, inter alia, the rehabilitation of roads and the upgrading of water supply systems linking Loubiere in south-west Dominica to Bagatelle in south-east Dominica through the British Caribbean Infrastructure Fund; Strengthening of health facilities, including the rehabilitation of the health centres in La Plana and Roso, the hospitals in Portsmouth and the clinics in Grand-Baie; funding for the development of the Climate Resilience Executive Board in Dominica; and funding for Geothermal Development in Dominica; Support Dominica Youth Growth Skills Program, etc. .
